Triple Threat Classic Standouts Shine In Overtime Thriller

Southern Maryland Christian Academy
White Plains, MD

When Josh Morgan-Green of Triple Threat Training started the Triple Threat Classic three years ago he probably didn't imagine that it would turn into a major post season event in the DMV.  The Triple Threat Classic has grown into a two weekend event for kids to have fun and show off their skills in front of fans.  Elementary, middle and high school locals played in their perspective games.  The girls games featured some of the areas top players and turned out to be one of the best games of the day as the girls in blue pulled out a 79-66 overtime victory.

Standout Players:

Taylor Gibson - Bishop McNamara - 2021

Taylor took home the games most valuable player award.  She finished the game with 23 points scoring ten of the points in overtime.  She is normally a back to the basket post player with her high school but showed to ability to face up as well as her range.  She hit a game high five 3-pointers and she also rebounded well.

Iyanna Warren - Oxon Hill - 2019

Iyanna looked to have the most fun out on the court.  She has been a prolific scorer in high school and will continue her playing career locally at Howard University.  She scored 19 points in the game and was able to blow past defenders with ease.  She hit the buzzer beater three pointer under duress to send the game into overtime.

Ava McGee - Maret School - 2022

Ava is fresh off of a spectacular freshman season at Maret.  She averaged double figures for the season and it's only fitting that she scored 14 points in this game.

Alexis Black - Archbishop Carroll - 2022

Alexis scored all of her 10 points in the second half and had a huge three pointer in overtime.  Defensively she affected the game and made plays on the ball that were directly responsible for her team's victory.

Blair Penn - Sidwell Friends - 2021

Sidwell Friends had one of their best seasons in over a decade and Blair was a big reason why.  She can flat out shoot the ball and it was evident as she scored 11 points in the first quarter.  She finished the game with 16 points which included three 3-pointers.
